tropic diusion points of view. We present a unied variational approach to image deblurring and impulse noise removal. The objective functional consists of a delity term and a regularizer. Data delity is quantied using the robust modied L1 norm, and elements from the Mumford-Shah functional are used for regularization. We show that the Mumford-Shah regularizer can be viewed as an extended line process. It re- ects spatial organization properties of the image edges, that do not appear in the common line process or anisotropic diusion. This allows to distinguish outliers from edges and leads to s..................[:=> Show Contents <=:]

e proponents of large-scale face recognition feel that it is a necessary evil to make our country safer. It could benefit the visually impaired and allow them to interact more easily with the environment. Also, a computer vision-based authentication system could be put in place to allow computer access or access to a specific room using face recognition. Another possible application would be to integrate this technology into an artificial intelligence system for more realistic interaction with humans.
We propose an appearance-based face recognition method called the Laplacianface approach..................[:=> Show Contents <=:]

3.1.1. An Achilles' Heel
AS HUMANITY BECOMES increasingly dependent on power grids and
communications webs, a much-voiced concern arises: Exactly how reliable are
these types of networks?
The good news is that complex systems can be amazingly resilient against
accidental failures.
In fact, although hundreds of routers routinely malfunction on the Internet at
any moment, the network rarely suffers major disruptions.
A similar degree of robustness characterizes. Living systems: people rarely
notice the consequences of thousands of errors in..................[:=> Show Contents <=:]

ses are carried out in short time the reliability in compressing an image will be high by Fast Image Compression Technique. Since the truncation of the redundant data there is no any notable difference between the original image and synthesized image. This algorithm is not much complex and the memory required to implement the algorithm is not very high. With a strong mathematical background and quantitative analysis, it enables efficient compression in the growing trends. The compression using this algorithm can give compression ratios of approximately 25:1 without any noticeable image distort..................[:=> Show Contents <=:]

e use software as far as possible to generate signals directly or to simplify the controlling circuits. Those signals, such as composite sync signal, blanking signal and a series of test signals are originally realized by a number of sequential circuits and logical gates. Now, this test signal generator has smaller size, higher stability and lower cost compared with former ones which consist of more hardware. All of the programs are stored in EPROM. We can change the test patterns and their orders easily by changing the programs without changing the main structure of the system. On the other h..................[:=> Show Contents <=:]
